Short biography

Dinelli is a painter based in Paris. She paints façades and rooftops in oil, then crumples the canvas and sets it in resin: her paintings become reliefs, somewhere between painting and sculpture. Her series Paris Rooftops, Habitats and Luminous Habitats have been shown in galleries in New York, Tokyo, Milan, Hong Kong, Zürich and Paris.

Long biography

After studying photography and the arts, Dinelli worked in Paris as a graphic designer in advertising, then turned to sculpture, her first passion. During a two-year stay in Bali she taught modelling there.

Back in Paris in 2000, she worked in pastel on the theme of architecture in motion. Her series Paris Rooftops and Rooftops of the World earned her numerous awards, in France and abroad.

Since 2010 she has been painting contemporary Habitats in oil: post-war housing estates, graffitied suburban towers, roofs of zinc and chimney pots. She paints, folds, crumples and sets façades and rooftops. These relief canvases question the durability of architecture, between the temptation of the disposable and a fascination with forms and materials.

Since 2023 the Luminous Habitats have extended this work: buildings at night, an oil-painted scene behind every window, printed on translucent plexiglass and lit from behind.
